Magic Hour, a handmade goods shop in the Bishop Arts District, will close its doors in late August.

Co-owner Molly Mathias told Dallas Culture Map that the brick-and-mortar store is shuttering due to financial hardships brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic. The shop will continue to operate as an online-only boutique.

“We are thankful for our time in Oak Cliff and the community that has supported us and the artists we have brought to Dallas,” Mathias told Dallas Culture Map through a spokeswoman. “This past 18 months, living in a global pandemic, has been hard for us like so many other small businesses. We made this hard decision so we can focus on our personal lives and have more time to focus on our other concept, Go Easy.”

Rich with textures, textiles and boho-chic inspiration, Magic Hour offers a curated collection of vintage and handcrafted home accessories, jewelry and apothecary pieces. Mathias and her mother, Mary Ann Mathias, opened a storefront on 421 N. Tyler St. in the spring of 2018. The pair moved their shop to 250 N. Bishop Ave. in November 2019.

Magic Hour opened a second location at the new Grandscape complex in The Colony in March 2020, but was forced to close the shop a few months later because of the pandemic.
