An hour lost or an hour to waste - Bonner County Daily Bee

sekirta.blogspot.com

One definition Webster uses to define time is “an interval between events.” I thought a lot about time during the night when I woke and could not go back to sleep. It was this clock-setting thing that got to me. Here is what I came up with.

At 2 a.m., the second Sunday in March, standard time stops. We move our clock ahead one hour to 3 a.m., when Daylight Saving Time begins. What happened? We lost an hour, that’s what. Who cares? Only those working the graveyard shift.

Jumping to November. At 2 a.m.  the first Sunday in November, Daylight Saving Time stops. We move our clocks back one hour. So Daylight Saving Time has now been stopped at 1 a.m., but standard time does not start until 2 a.m., so we have an hour gone to waste (only if you are awake). Sleep well.
