YORK, Pa.—Rutter’s is raising the hourly wage for all field employees to $14 effective yesterday, the company announced.
The 79-store has committed more than $5 million in additional annual wages and a total of $12 million since the end of 2020. All Rutter’s team members will see a wage increase, with fulltime team members earning nearly $30,000 per year. Rutter’s store managers can earn as much as $110,000 per year, and restaurant managers as much as $99,000 per year, with bonus. Rutter’s also offers an extensive benefits package, including scholarship opportunities for employees and their children.
“At Rutter’s, we pride ourselves on investing in our people because they’re a huge part of what makes us an industry leader,” said Scott Hartman, president and CEO, Rutter’s. “We’re delighted to be in a position to increase wages yet again for our hard-working field employees, and we’re excited to continue our investments and growth in 2021.”
Because of the pandemic, Rutter’s announced in April 2020 that it would provide store employees additional recognition pay, with team members receiving an extra $2 per hour and store managers earning an extra $100 per week. Late last year, Rutter’s made the recognition pay permanent at a total cost of more than $6.5 million annually. Including the second increase, Rutter’s has raised starting wages by 33% since 2019. Early this year, Forbes named Rutter’s one of America’s Best Mid-Size Employers.
In other Rutter’s news, the chain has revealed plans to make over $100 million in capital investments in 2021. This includes opening new locations across Pennsylvania, Maryland and West Virginia, each of which will create up to 50 jobs for these local communities. The company also intends to complete 10 store remodels this year, adding beer and wine to all the locations.
