Lightning struck a utility pole on La Senda in White Rock, causing a major power outage from around 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 30. The Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities (DPU) estimates that 400 customers west of Sherwood and south in the La Senda and Pajarito Acres neighborhoods were without power for more than eight hours.
Working through the night and the storm, DPU’s linemen replaced the pole and fully restored power to all customers by Sunday morning, May 31 at 5 a.m.
DPU reminds customers to report power outages to the Customer Care Center Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 505.662.8333 and after hours to Police Dispatch at 505.662.8222.
