The Callaway County Sheriff's Office arrested two Tuesday morning in connection with a vehicle chase that injured a Fulton police officer.
The officer, whom the CCSO has not yet named, is in good condition and has been released from the hospital.
Drew Pierce, 31, of Lincoln, Nebraska, was wanted for first degree assault, two counts of second degree burglary, two counts of resisting arrest and tampering with a motor vehicle. Pierce is also wanted on a Nebraska warrant for a felony weapons offense.
Ronnie Lloyd, 31, of Fulton was arrested for burglary and two counts of resisting arrest. The arrests follow a 13-hour manhunt.
The chase began at 5:19 p.m. Monday after a traffic stop near the U.S. 54-Route F interchange in Fulton. From there, police pursued the vehicle west on Route F, before the chase looped back north and then southeast down Route KK and County Road 207. From there, officers followed back on Route F west towards Millersburg.
A detour down county roads led authorities northeast before the vehicle stopped on County Road 230 west of Route HH.
Two Fulton Police Department officers were trying to detain occupants of the vehicle when it moved again — the officers fired their weapons, and one officer was struck by the moving vehicle, according to the CCSO.
Lloyd and Pierce managed to flee the scene. Responding officers found the vehicle abandoned on Route KK.
The search included the Fulton Police Department, the Callaway County Sheriff's Office, the Missouri Highway Patrol, the Callaway County Ambulance District, and K9 units from the Boone County Sheriff's Office, the Columbia Police Department and the Jefferson City Police Department.
"The additional K9 units were instrumental in providing ample tracking capability over the course of several hours and several miles," a Callaway County Sheriff's Office news release stated.
At the time, local law enforcement advised the public to secure residences and vehicles and report any suspicious activity.
"There is no doubt many citizens received little or no sleep in the search area throughout the overnight hours," the release continued. "The number of citizens whom were maintaining watch over their residences and farms, offering ATVs and UTVs to law enforcement for their use, and offering to help in any way possible was a true reminder of just how caring this community is."
That night, the Callaway County Sheriff's Office shared images of Pierce and Lloyd and additional information — authorities discovered the abandoned suspect vehicle was stolen from Nebraska.
The two were eventually located and arrested Tuesday morning in the 3900 block of Route F.
Pierce and Lloyd are being held without bond pending later court bond review.
The Callaway County Sheriff's Office is conducting an investigation into the officer-involved shooting portion of the incident. Once the investigation is included, the office will submit all investigative reports and documents to the Callaway County Prosecuting Attorney's Office for review.
