WYOMING, MI -- A standoff that lasted nearly 12 hours ended peacefully late Tuesday with the surrender of a 42-year-old man.
Wyoming police said he man came out of a house in the 300 block of Abbie Street SE shortly after 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 6.
Police arrived at the scene about 8:30 a.m. for a woman calling for help in a domestic dispute.
Wyoming police said they found a man holding a knife to his own throat. Following that, he held a 51-year-old woman inside the house against her will.
Police said the two had a domestic relationship.
Wyoming police established a dialogue with the man and eventually convinced him to surrender. Police received assistance from the Grand Rapids tactical team.
The woman was not harmed.
