A 12-hour curfew starting tonight has been imposed on Mobile after Hurricane Zeta knocked out power and weakened and brought down trees in the area Wednesday night, Mayor Sandy Stimpson announced.
Starting at 6:40 p.m. Thursday, Stimpson ordered a general curfew for Mobile that is set to expire at 6:30 a.m. Friday. The restrictions don’t apply to law enforcement, first responders or workers who have jobs during those hours.
The mayor imposed the curfew “due to power outages at numerous intersections, dangling limbs and traffic lights and leaning or weakened trees,” the city said.
The city said it expects power to be fully restored by Friday and is optimistic that the curfew will only be needed for one night.
