Power plant causing light snow this morning - WKOW

sekirta.blogspot.com

PORTAGE (WKOW) - We're waking up to more flurry activity in southern Wisconsin, but some of it is actually man-made.

A clipper system is moving into our region from the Northern Plains. This keeps low-level clouds across our region with passing flurry chances.

Meanwhile, smokestacks at the Alliant Energy power plant in Columbia County are causing additional light snow, too!

As particulates from the power plant get lofted into the low clouds filled with moisture, it forces ice crystal development.

Light winds from the west-northwest push the snow downstream, so parts of Columbia, Dane, Dodge and Jefferson counties in the WKOW area some light snow because of the smokestacks.
