'Go Go Gadjet' Rocks THON Livestream During Final-Hour Performance - Onward State

For the second consecutive year, the cover band Go Go Gadjet performed during the premiere final-hour slot of THON.

The genre-blending cover band didn’t disappoint, getting off to an electric start right away with “Jump” by Van Halen. The group transitioned the Van Halen classic into DJ Khaled’s “All I Do Is Win,” which really got the band pumped up.

Next up was “I’m Blue,” otherwise known as the meme song “Da Ba Dee Da Ba Daa,” and then an unorthodox version of Cardi B’s “I Like It.”

One of the members of the band let out a “FTK!” before they got back to work.

Amy Winehouse’s “Valerie,” which was one of the most covered song throughout THON 2021, was next up for Go Go Gadjet. Another song played often, “All Star” by Smash Mouth, followed up Winehouse’s classic song.

The Gadjet boys were just getting started, folks.

A mix of Trey Songz’s “Say Aah” and “In Da Club” by 50 Cent was next to keep the energy moving. “ABC” by the Jackson 5 transitioned into “Gold Digger” by Kanye West before the group took a brief break.

“We’re gonna give you some time to catch your breath,” the group said.

Al Green’s “Let’s Stay Together” and 24kGoldn’s “Mood” followed the brief break. The group then went into “Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” and Maroon 5’s “Moves Like Jagger.” Before performing the Maroon 5 song, one member of the band had some interesting encouragement.

“Let’s make those butts wiggle,” he said.

From “Moves Like Jagger,” Go Go Gadjet transitioned into “Feel This Moment” by Pitbull with a mix of “Scream & Shout” by will.i.am.

Next, we got some more Cardi B! Her hit “Money” kept the performance going and was followed by “Locked Out Of Heaven” by Bruno Mars. “Put Your Hands In The Air” by Denzel wrapped up the first part of Go Go Gadjet’s performance.

“Penn State THON how you feelin out there?” the group said.

The next part of the performance was an absolute marathon. The band played 30 songs in 30 minutes! That’s right, we experienced an absolute treat, folks.

The first of the 30 songs was Michael Jackson’s “Black Or White,” which transitioned into “Inside Out” by Eve 6. Go Go Gadjet just doesn’t miss, baby!

In the remaining 28 songs, there were tons of hits ranging back over 35 years. At the very top of the list was Billy Joel’s “Uptown Girl,” which always gets a crowd fired up and moving, especially if you’re from New York (I might be)!

The group went right into “I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles)” by The Proclaimers, as the classics were alive and well during this performance. Ironically enough, the band played “Uptown Girl” and “I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles)’ back-to-back last year as well, proving the good ol’ saying true: If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!

“Livin’ On A Prayer” by Bon Jovi and the Dave Matthews Band’s “Ants Marching” were two other oldies played.

Go Go Gadjet went back to 2011 for LMFAO’s “Sexy And I Know It” from their album “Sorry For Party Rocking.”

Other songs played in the 30-song stretch were Carly Rae Jepsen’s “Call Me Maybe,” Rascall Flatts’ “Life Is A Highway,” and Justin Bieber’s “Baby.”
