Use this new map to track your local 48-hour snow forecast - MLive.com

Here’s a close-up look at how much snow will fall at your specific location over the next two days.

There are several nice things about this snowfall forecast.

First, it is high resolution with a different snow forecast value every few miles. This differs from years ago when you might have had a different snow forecast every 10 miles or so.

This map also updates automatically every six hours. As the snowfall forecast is updated after new rounds of data, the map animation will change.

Remember, this is a rolling 48-hour snow forecast. In the snow situation this weekend, lake effect snow will continue past that mark. So the timeframe may not show the entire snow forecast, if more snow continues after the end of two days.

Editor’s note: The snowfall forecast map above predicts snowfall expected over a 48-hour period. It updates automatically every six hours. Click the play button to begin the hour-by-hour forecast. Put your cursor anywhere on the map to see the forecast total. You can get specific forecasts for your neighborhood by entering your address in the search window at the top of the map.
