TULSA, Okla. — The Tulsa area is commemorating the 100-year mark since the Tulsa Race Massacre.
On May 31, 1921, a white mob attacked Black Wall Street and burned down businesses and homes in what is now the city’s Historic Greenwood District.
An estimated 300 people were killed, many of which still haven’t been found.
FOX23 has been digging through historical documents and talking with community leaders in Tulsa about that dark time in the city’s past and the continued impact as we approach the centennial.
On Thursday, May 20 FOX23 is presenting a one-hour special “The Tulsa Race Massacre 100 Years Later: The History and the Hope.”
