247Sports announced updated rankings Wednesday for the 2021 football recruiting class, and one Oregon Ducks pledge in particular made a significant jump.

Offensive lineman Jackson Light, an Under Armour All-American selection, climbed to the nation’s No. 1 center, eclipsing Arizona State commit Ezra Dotson-Oyetade for the top spot.

The 6-foot-3, 285-pound interior offensive lineman, out of Corner Canyon High School (Draper, Utah), committed to Oregon last October as the nation’s No. 9 center, but has steadily raised his stock, bolstered by strong camp showings in early spring.

While Light isn’t focused on recruiting rankings, he admitted he was pleased to show that all his effort is being recognized.

“The amount of hard work, sweat, and time I have put in makes this moment wonderful," he said. “I’m truly humbled to be recognized as the best in the country.”

Light’s bump in the rankings also further solidifies Oregon’s O-line class as tops in the Pac-12 Conference.

Oregon holds commitments from the the top two offensive tackles in the West region, Kingsley Suamataia and Bram Walden, the No. 2 guard in the West region, Jonah Miller, and Light, the nation’s No. 1 center.

It’s a group of which Light is proud to be a part.

“I’m fired up to be in this O-line class,” he said. “This group of men is the best O-line class in the nation. The tone that is going to be set is physical, nasty, and deadly in the trenches.”
