INDIANA BOROUGH ANNOUNCES END OF ONE HOUR PARKING GRACE ON OCTOBER 1ST

Indiana Borough has announced that the one-hour free parking for metered spaces will expire on October 1st.

The parking policy was originally modified on March 19th at Covid-19 cases started to pop up locally.  The new policy provided an hour of free parking at metered spaces, which would allow shoppers and others doing business in Indiana ample time for pickup or short visits when the county was in the red and yellow phases of the Governor’s reopening plan.  That continued as the county entered the green phase, and borough council also started to give parking vouchers to local businesses for the parking garage on Water Street.

Regular parking enforcement will resume on October 1st, meaning that the one hour grace period is no longer in effect.  Those who park downtown will either have to feed the meter or use the Passport Parking app to pay for parking on their cell phone.  Local businesses can continue to request the parking vouchers and are encouraged to contact the parking department if they want them.
