San Diego Police officers arrested a man who had barricaded himself in the Hillcrest Heights Health Center after a five-hour stand-off Saturday night.
The police department announced through Twitter at 9:10 p.m. that the man had peacefully surrendered and was in custody.
The incident reportedly began when the man, who was possibly armed, entered the center at about 4:10 p.m. Television reporters at the scene said the man was discovered in a shower at the facility and then barricade himself in a room. Residents at the center were told to shelter in place and did not evacuate the building, according to reports.
Police advised people through Twitter to the 400 block of Sixth Avenue, and the University Avenue off-ramp from state Route 163 south was closed throughout the stand-off.
SWAT officers were called to assist with the situation, and the man was uncooperative for hours, according to police Tweets.
