An Oregon lineman made a massive jump in the most recent Top247 rankings released on Wednesday morning. Draper (Utah) Corner Canyon offensive center commit Jackson Light received his fourth star and is now the No. 178 prospect in the country on 247Sports.
The lineman made the move into the Top247 with his new ranking and increased his player rating from an 88 to a 92. Light is now the No. 1 center prospect on 247Sports.
In making the bump for Light into the Top247, the national rankings team noted that the center prospect has evolved since first being rated.
"Light is a good example of the progression of the rankings process as the players themselves progress. When he first came on the radar, Light was around 245 pounds and today stands at 285 pounds. He put together good camp performances, including an Alpha Dog performance in Phoenix at an Under Armour event. That had him already moving higher in the ranks, but his game film from early in his senior season has been dominant, accelerating that rankings trajectory and pushing him into the Top247," wrote the 247Sports experts.
Light has opened his 2020 senior season with some impressive film, including a number of plays that have gone viral among Oregon fans. In the video below, Light (#74) can be seen turning the corner to get ahead of his teammate with the ball, knocking out two defenders in the process

Since committing to Oregon last fall, Light has seen his stock jump considerably in the 247Sports Composite rankings and picking up other honors. The prospect had a strong offseason, including earning an invite to the Under Armour All-America game after an MVP performance at a UA Camp stop in Phoenix.
Light is projected as a future power five starter by 247Sports' recruiting analyst Blair Angulo with a comparison to Matt Paradis of the Carolina Panthers.
"Broad shouldered build with decent length and room to add mass. Forceful blocker with good mobility," said Angulo evaluating the Oregon commit. " Agile off his snap, showing ability to get vertical quickly and push opponents back to open up lanes. Balanced and aggressive lineman who can slide and pull, with footwork and awareness to support where needed. In pass block situations, does well to absorb contact with strong base and uses hands effectively to offset opponents' moves while staying cognizant of potential counters. At times squanders leverage and could improve his consistency in terms of pad level. Upside as a multi-year starter at Power Five level with chance to garner NFL Draft looks."
