The McLeod County Sheriff’s Office says an armed man was eventually taken into custody early this morning (Friday) after more than 7 hours.
At just before 5:30pm Thursday, McLeod County dispatch received a 911 call from a residence in the 14000 block of Hwy 7 east of Hutchinson regarding an adult male acting erratically.
The first deputy arrived on scene at just after 5:30 and encountered the male inside of the business armed with multiple edged weapons.
The Sheriff’s Office says it was apparent that the male was experiencing a significant mental health crisis.
Additional deputies and officers from the Hutchinson Police Department, Minnesota State Patrol and Minnesota DNR arrived to assist with the incident.
A member of the Carver County Mobile Crisis Response team also responded to the scene to assist.
After about 7.5 hours, deputies were able to take the man into custody without incident just before 2am this morning and he was transported to the Hutchinson Hospital for evaluation.
