Snow Showers Likely Tonight

Snow fell across the region late Thursday into last night. Early snowfall reports rolling in this morning range from about 2″ to 6″ across our viewing area, including about 3″ to 3.5″ in the La Crosse area. It’s a wet, clingy and heavy snow… so take it easy when shoveling. Also, roads are quite slippery this morning… so use caution. An ALERT DAY will continue today and tonight, due to travel impacts.
The strong areas of low pressure that brought the snow last night will slowly drift east/southeast away from the region over the next 24 hours. It will be cloudy today with scattered light snow showers or a light mix as temps will be in the mid 30s. Cloudy tonight with snow showers likely. Additional snow accumulations up to an inch possible in many areas. Lows tonight will be in the upper 20s (north) to low 30s.

NWS Headlines In Effect Through Friday Evening
Flurries could linger into Saturday morning, otherwise expect a mainly cloudy day with highs in the low-mid 30s. A weak disturbance could bring some light snow showers or flurries late Saturday night into Sunday. Highs Sunday will drop into the upper 20s.
Looking Ahead… Expect plenty of cloudy periods next week, but I’m not seeing any significant storm systems at this time. Some weaker disturbances could clip the region at times as we will be in a fast northwest flow aloft. As of now, it looks like there could be some light snow showers or flurries on Tuesday and Thursday. High temps next week will mainly be in the 20s, perhaps low 30s on Thursday. Overnight lows will mainly be in the teens to around 20F, but could drop into the single digits next Friday night.
