Organizers of fairs and festivals in New York State have a better idea of how they may be able to hold their events this year as the state eases the restrictions implemented while the coronavirus pandemic raged last year.
Governor Andrew Cuomo says Department of Health approval will be required for events expecting over 5,000 attendees and county fairs and festivals must ensure that the total number of attendees can maintain six feet distance from each other. Health screenings will also be required. That could be done via signage, at ticket purchase, by email, phone or electronic survey. Sanitation protocols will be required
The Democrat says it will be up to the fair organizers to decide if they will require proof of full vaccination status and fairs and festivals may still require masks for all attendees as Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidance still calls for masks to be mandated for all unvaccinated attendees in certain settings and indoors where vaccination status is unknown.
Organizers can consult the CDC’s “Guidance for Organizing Large Events and Gatherings” for more information.
