PUEBLO, Colo. (KKTV) - A man refusing to vacate a hotel room caused a several-hour standoff in Pueblo Friday night.
Police say the suspect was staying at the La Quinta off Elizabeth Street in north Pueblo. He checked out -- but wouldn’t leave.
Once officers got on scene, they realized they were dealing with a familiar figure.
“[Police] determined the suspect to be 38-year-old Eddie Branham, who has had multiple standoffs with the police and had warrants for felony assault and weapons violations,” a Pueblo police captain wrote on Twitter.
Branham allegedly dragged the standoff out for six hours before SWAT deployed gas into the room.
After that whole ordeal, police say Branham ended up leaving the hotel room after all -- and spent his night in jail instead.
