SPOKANE, Wash.– The Spokane Arena mass vaccination site will now be hosting “Vaccination Happy Hours” events In May and June.
“Receiving the COVID-19 vaccine should be celebrated,” said Spokane Regional Health District (SRHD) Interim Health Officer, Dr. Francisco Velazquez. “With the vaccine readily available, we now have the tool we need to fight the virus, keep our friends and family healthy, and return to a normal life.”
Through an effort with the help of the SRHD, Greater Spokane Inc., the Department of Health and Spokane Public Facilities District, the event for those who receive the Johnson & Johnson vaccine will include free food from local food vendors, music and giveaways. Along with these events is a chance to receive an I’m Vaccinated photo op with Spokane Chiefs’ and Spokane Shock’s mascots Fox and Boomer.
Along with these events comes the chance to win tickets to upcoming live, in-person events at the Spokane Arena. Ticket giveaways to Dude Perfect, Eric Church, The Weekend and Jason Aldean will be available for each respective day. The events will be held May 25, June 2, 8 and 16 from 5-7 p.m.
“We have vaccinated tens of thousands of people here at the Arena in only a few months’ time and seeing the excitement and gratitude for an end to the pandemic is something we too want to celebrate,” said Dianna Trotter, DOH site lead for the Spokane Arena. “The whole process takes no more than 30 minutes so why not take a moment to eat some food, dance a little, and capture the moment on social media!”
Tickets are only available if one receives their vaccination during the events. Winners are selected randomly on each day.
Scheduling for appointments for people ages 18 or over can be found at www.spokanearena.com/happyhour or can call 833-VAX-HELP. Language and transportation assistance will be available to all.
