Today’s world feels so overwhelming. Our once optimistic outlook on life has been exchanged with the expectation that things will only get worse or that the light will never shine again. When there is so much uncertainty and things are so unbelievably out of our control, it’s a natural human emotion to shut down.

I was talking to a friend who shared how heavy and restless she was feeling. She said, “I could always at least see the light at the end of the tunnel even if it looked so far away, but now it’s just dark. I can’t even see the light.” I silently agreed with her, but at the same moment I had a vision of a tunnel that had a winding road. I closed my eyes and envisioned myself driving in a tunnel and going around bends. After about the third bend, I could again see the light. My perspective changed instantly.

When in the midst of trouble, we often forget that this life is full of twists and turns. The twists and turns of life do not invalidate the truth that the sun shines every morning, no matter how dark the night. No matter that we cannot see or feel the sun when it makes way to the light of the moon. We have audacious confidence that when we awake the sun will shine again. And just like the tunnel, when you stay the course of the winding road you will again see the light.

The beauty of our universe is we get a fresh start each day. Every day is an opportunity to embrace life differently, have hope for the future and believe wholeheartedly that everything will work out for your good. And indeed, the sun will surely shine again.
