UPDATE (9:30 p.m) - Peoria Police issued a news release Thursday night providing some details how officers used non-lethal means to capture a man who allegedly stabbed his brother in the 1000 block of East Frye Avenue.
Police said they negotiated for hours before deploying a robot in the residence to communicate with the man.
The man still did not surrender after police fired several gas rounds into a side window, according to a news release.
Officers said they continued talking to the man and used more non-lethal methods to eventually subdue the man about 6:50 p.m after a nearly 10 hour standoff.
Police said the suspect was taken to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries. His brother reportedly suffered non-life threatening injuries from the stabbing.
The Special Response Team, Crisis Negotiators, and officials with Emergency Response Services aided Peoria Police.
The Peoria Fire Department and Advanced Medical Transport were also on the scene, police said.
It was not clear what charges might be filed against the suspect. Peoria Police are continuing to investigate the case.

"We were able to get him out of the house with some de-escalation and some less lethal options that we have," Echevarria said.

Echevarria said right now, no charges will be filed as they will focus on getting the suspect some help at a local hospital.
PEORIA (Heart of Illinois ABC) -- Peoria Police remain involved in an hours-long standoff with a suspect involved in a domestic dispute earlier Thursday morning.
Police have been trying for hours to get a suspect out of a home near the intersection of Frye and Atlantic.
Peoria Police responded to a call around 9 a.m. to a domestic dispute between two brothers.
The suspect stabbed his brother, who was taken to a hospital for treatment.
The suspect then barricaded himself inside the home.
Police still have the home surrounded as of 6 p.m., and have been asking the suspect to come to the window and talk to them.
Nearby neighbors have been watching it all unfold and are in shock -- disappointed at the violence happening just blocks away.
Neighbor Michael Chronister said he's simply fed up with the violence in the city.
“Between the kids shooting other kids or kids shooting adults -- it’s horrible," he said. "And there’s a lot of us in the city that are tired of it.”
Peoria Police Chief Eric Echevarria said the goal is to get the suspect out of the house unharmed.
“We’re still here the gentlemen is still in the house," he said. "And we’re trying to deescalate the situation."
"He’s in there by himself. Time is on our side and we want to make sure we get him out safety and get him the medical help he needs.”
The suspect's mother is also at the scene pleading for her son to come out peacefully.
Around 4 p.m., police used tear gas around the house in hopes of getting the man to surrender, but so far he's still keeping police at bay.
