Press release from Caltrans District 2:

Helicopter operations for the installation of mesh drapery are currently planned on State Route 299 near Burnt Ranch (Trinity County) on July 7, July 8, and July 9.

Between the hours of 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. on July 7, July 8, and July 9, motorists can anticipate more than an hour delay (up to 75-minutes) in the area. This work and scheduling is subject to change at any time. Operations are also planned at the project site near Junction City on these days, with up to 20-minute delays between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m.

The work is a portion of the current Burnt Junction Drapery Project on SR 299 near Burnt Ranch and Junction City. The project is currently expected to be done by November.

In general, motorists can anticipate up to 20-minute delays, Mondays-Fridays between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. at both locations. Longer delays for helicopter, blasting, and scaling operations are anticipated for short windows during the project.

Plan ahead for long delays if you must travel in the area during these dates and times. Motorists are advised to carry water, snacks, a cell phone, and have a full tank of gas prior to traveling into the project area.
