SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Pac-12 Athletic Directors voted to start the 20-hour rule on Monday according to reports.
FOX Sports and The Athletic college football analyst Bruce Feldman reported that the AD’s in the conference approved to start team organized activities.
The NCAA Football Oversight Committee has approved a six-week preseason practice plan on June 11. Student-athletes originally had strength workouts and film study with coaches. That was for eight hours per week. The 20-hour rule is 20-hours per week that coaches can spend with their players. It’s comparable to the NFL’s OTA’s. Eight hours in weight training, 6 hours of walk-throughs and 6 hours of meetings.
The 20-hour rule begins the training camp portion for programs to begin preparing for the season.
The Pac-12 is meeting with presidents and chancellors on Friday to approve a schedule plan after the conference announced that they would move to a conference-only model for fall sports in 2020. In the release, the Pac-12 stated that they would have schedule details released no later than July 31.
