First there was the quartini. Then the zoom cocktail hour. And now that restaurants are open for indoor and outdoor dining, many places have re-started their happy hours.

With Gov. Andrew Cuomo's new rules on cocktails, food must be a part of any happy hour package and include items that are more substantial than a bag of chips or pretzels.

BEER GARDENS: 9 places to go

And while the words "Happy Hour" may sound a bit out of step with the times, many restaurant owners say it's because of the current situation that they've started them again.

Jon Fernandez, co-owner of Two Villains Brewing in Nyack, summed up the sentiment by telling The Journal News/lohud: "Happy hour is our way of doing what we can to provide a little normalcy to our patrons while also staying compliant with all safety precautions put in place by our state government."

At Pub Street in Pleasantville, for example, you're now interacting with the bartender behind plexiglass.

Some options:

Granita Cucina & Bar, Hartsdale

The Happy Hour menu, from 4 to 7 p.m. daily, is exactly the same as what the restaurant had in life before COVID-19: Two for $10 draft beer and two for $13 sangria, wine and cocktails, including the popular Part Time Lover, made of gin, strawberry, hibiscus and lemon. Among the food options: Rosemary and parmigiano flatbread with fresh ricotta ($8), tuna tartare crostini ($10), wood-fired meatballs ($14) and mixed olives ($5). The only caveat: It's inside bar seating only. No reservations necessary (though always good to call ahead).

Go: 202 E. Hartsdale Ave.; 914-725-8420, granitany.com.

Growler & Gill, Nanuet

Chill out in a beer garden while enjoying $2 off pints and goblets, along with wine. The Happy Hour deal, available both inside and out, runs Fridays from 4 to 6 p.m. and also includes a pub menu featuring pizzas and Polish perogies. No reservations, but there's lots of seating, all 6 feet apart. The pub also features a Growler fill Happy Hour on Thursdays from 4 to 7 p.m. where if you fill one 64-ounce growler, you get the second one half price.

Go: 148 Route 59; 845-507-0899, growlerandgill.com.

Modern on the Rails, Mamaroneck

Spicy battered cauliflower, Buffalo wings, rice balls and beef sliders are among the $8 bar bites available from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday to Friday at the bar, along with $10 cocktails, beer, wine and sangria. With social distancing, there are only six spots at the indoor bar but this train station restaurant also has a lounge area and outside dining bar area. Ordering food, however, must be part of the equation. Reservations accepted for outside but inside at the bar, it's first come, first served.

Go: 1 Station Plaza; 914-777-9300, modernontherails.com.

Peter Pratt's Inn, Yorktown Heights

On the Happy Hour menu: $4 domestic beer, $6 wine, $7 cocktails and bar bites such as melted cheese fries ($6), Buffalo grilled chicken wings ($7) and hamburger sliders and fries ($9). Happy Hour is indoors only and runs from 5 to 6 p.m. Wednesday to Thursday. Reservations suggested, though walk-ins are welcome.

Go: 673 Croton Heights Road; 914-962-4090, peterprattsinn.com.

Pub Street, Pleasantville

Good news for those who still aren't keen on venturing inside: Happy Hour runs from 3 to 6 p.m. every Thursday, Friday and Saturday, regardless of where you sit. And the magic number is $5, meaning all beer and wine is $5 and all food is under $5. That includes guac and chips ($5), vegetable spring rolls ($5), shishito peppers ($5) and a Great White Oyster ($2).

Go: 20 Wheeler Ave.; 914-909-5408, pubstreet.com.

Two Villians Brewing, Nyack

Sit inside or out and enjoy $1 off in-house draughts, cocktails and wines and $2 off  apps. The deal runs from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, to 6 p.m. Thursday and from noon to 6 p.m. Fridays. On Tuesdays and Wednesdays it also includes $1 off all 32-ounce crowler fills. Our advice? Try the chicken wings or sautéed shrimp, both of which come with a variety of sauces such as barbecue or Old Bayoli, then pair with the with the brewpub's own Gummy World, a sour double IPA made with wild cherry and mango.

Go: 132 Main St.; 845-480-5495, no website.
