Three people were injured in shootings in separate locations over a span of about one hour Monday in St. Paul, and police are looking into whether they’re connected.

Police said the people wounded had non-life-threatening injuries after gunfire in the Summit-University, Frogtown and Greater East Side areas.

Officers responded to a report of shots fired about 4:30 p.m. in the 800 block of Dayton Avenue, where a witness said he saw a wounded male get into the passenger side of a vehicle that drove away. A vehicle matching the description arrived at Regions Hospital and someone dropped off a man in his 30s who was shot multiple times, said Steve Linders, a St. Paul police spokesman.

At about 5:10 p.m., police called to the 600 block of West Minnehaha Avenue found a 17-year-old shot twice in the leg. Paramedics took him to the hospital.

Then, about 5:30 p.m., a man in his 20s arrived at St. John’s Hospital in Maplewood and reported there was an altercation in a bar, he left and was shot in the area of Maryland Avenue and White Bear Avenue, Linders said.

Monday’s shootings come after three people were injured by gunfire in St. Paul on Sunday. As of Saturday, there were 181 people shot in St. Paul this year, 21 of them fatally.

There were 140 people shot during the same period in St. Paul last year.
