A fairly weak weather system may be strong enough to squeeze out some light ice and snow in Minnesota Tuesday. But more significant snow may fall across parts of Wisconsin.
The system
A fairly weak low-pressure system will track from near Kansas City to the south of Chicago Tuesday into Wednesday. This storm track is typically too far south to produce significant snowfall totals across most of Minnesota.
NOAA’s NAM 3 km resolution model picks up on the track, and the notion of a light wintry mix of light glaze ice, sleet, and slight snow across Minnesota Tuesday. Heavier snowfall favors a corridor along I-94 between about Eau Claire and Madison, Wis.

Snowfall in most areas of Minnesota will be less than an inch. The best chances for seeing a couple of inches of snow favors southeast Minnesota through Eau Claire to Madison, Wisconsin.

While the storm is not very impressive on the maps, it may produce enough icing to create some slick roads across parts of Minnesota and Wisconsin Tuesday.
