CONNECTICUT — There is a good chance many in Connecticut will wake up without power Christmas morning, which seems like a parting gift as we close the door on 2020. High wind warnings and flood watches have been posted for a potent storm that will hit Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
The forecast is hideous: up to 4 inches of rain, 60 mph wind gusts and possible flooding. The worst of the weather will hit Christmas Eve through until noon on Christmas Day. Once the stormy weather subsides, temperatures on Christmas Day will fall from a high of 60 degrees down into the 20s — and wind gusts will make it feel even colder.
Here are all the current weather advisories, watches and warnings for your area:
Southern Connecticut: A flood watch is in effect from Thursday night through Friday morning.
"Rain will become heavy at times tonight into early Friday morning. The rain will lighten and eventually end late Friday morning into Friday afternoon. Total rainfall of 2 to 4 is forecast. Excessive runoff in areas of low-lying and poor drainage as well as urban areas could result in flooding. Some area rivers and streams may exceed bankfull."

Litchfield: A flood watch is in effect from this evening through Friday afternoon. "Rain will move into the area today, then become heavy at times tonight into early Friday. The rain will fall on a deep snowpack leading to significant snow melt. This snow melt combined with 1 to 3 inches of rain, with locally higher amounts of up to 6 inches in the eastern Catskills, could cause urban and flash flooding. Flows in rivers may increase quickly with some rising above flood stage on Friday.
A high wind warning is in effect from 6 p.m. tonight until 1 p.m. Friday. Southeast winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 60 mph expected.
