CONNECTICUT — The good news is that Sunday's rain, snow and ice event doesn't look like a big deal. There just doesn't appear to be a lot of moisture with this storm system that will impact Connecticut.

However, there is enough snow and ice forecast that it could make roads slippery tonight and Monday morning in inland and northern sections of the state.

According to the National Weather Service, areas away from the immediate coast may see 2-3 inches of snow and ice accumulation Sunday afternoon and evening. However in looking at the hour-by-hour forecast below, temperatures largely stay just above freezing in Connecticut and the chance for precipitation never hits 100 percent either.

If you plan to be out and about Sunday afternoon, it appears the best chance for wintry weather is after 4 p.m. as some very light rain showers may fall before then.

There is a chance for some rain after 4 p.m. and the precipitation will continue until 7 a.m. Monday. The rain is forecast to change to snow around 7 p.m. and continue until early Monday and 2.3 inches of snow is expected to accumulate.

Southern CT:

Northern Fairfield, Northern New Haven County: A winter weather advisory is in effect from 9 a.m. until midnight. Total snow accumulations of 2-4 inches.

Northern Middlesex, Northern New London County: A winter weather advisory is in effect from noon until 6 a.m. Monday. Total snow accumulations of up to 3 inches.

4 a.m.: 33 degrees; 10 percent chance of precipitation

7 a.m.: 32 degrees; 8 percent chance of precipitation

A chance of rain after 3 p.m. and snow will mix in also. After 7 p.m. the rain is forecast to change to all snow and end by midnight. A quarter inch of rain is forecast along with 2.4 inches of snow in inland sections of southern Connecticut.
