Lakewood and Denver police officers arrested a wanted fugitive after a six-hour standoff at a Quality Inn hotel in Lakewood Friday night.
Casey Henni, 35, was wanted by the Department of Corrections for menacing with a deadly weapon, fraud, forgery and escape, according to a statement from Lakewood Police. Law enforcement obtained information Henni was at the Quality Inn at 11907 W. Sixth Ave. at about 6 p.m. Friday. As officers attempted to take him into custody, Henni fired a single shot at police with a handgun from his hotel room, the statement said.
The West Metro Swat team responded and negotiators were able to get Henni to surrender without incident around midnight. No injuries were reported.
According to police, Henni was booked into the Jefferson County Jail on his warrant and new charges, including attempted first-degree murder, reckless endangerment, first-degree aggravated motor vehicle theft, failure to leave premises with a weapon and possession of a weapon by a previous offender.
