ROCKFORD (WREX) — A man is in custody following a two-hour standoff with Rockford police at the Orton Keyes apartment complex Wednesday morning.
According to police, a SWAT vehicle and officers responded to the 2800 block of Echo Street for a man wanted on several charges, including a violation of an order of protection, criminal damage to property and a probation violation.
When police tried to arrest Donterio Leach, he refused to leave the residence for almost two hours, according to police. Leach and officers continued to exchange dialogue and after some time passed, he jumped from a second story window onto the roof of an adjoining building, according to police. Authorities were able to arrest Leach and he was taken to the Winnebago County Jail.
