Letter: So, why stop at just $15 an hour? - Chico Enterprise-Record

I am really surprised by the need to increase the wage to $15 an hour and see the actual cost of living increase should be $24 per hour. If you wish to look to the near future, then the new wage should be more like $30 per hour to be in line with the next rise in corporate increase. $15 per hour does not seem enough at this time.

I realize many in America want to have an equal wage and benefit package; this is needed and I applaud the direction. The governor may request and advise the legislature to approve a rise in the minimum wage at any given time. Newsom can wave his hand and get it done with no strings attached. So why does he not do this?

Maybe raise the cost of food and groceries products? Triple the cost of manual labor as lawn maintenance and care; garbage collection; take your pick and it will all increase in costs. Soon we will price ourselves out of the production market and enter a direction we can not return from.

Already workers are fleeing our state due to high taxes and negative business practices, so go ahead and add on another cost to the pile. The more reason to leave a beautiful state.

Make it $30 and be sure of the wage increase. I applaud the direction.
