LEXINGTON, Ky. (KT) – Right to Life of Central Kentucky sponsored a Walk for Life fundraising event on Saturday in partnership with Ashland Avenue Baptist Church, which hosted the walk. The theme was “Walk as Children of Light,” a phrase taken from Ephesians 5:8.

“We just want to have a pro-life presence in the community,” said Dave Holzwarth, president of Right to Life of Central Kentucky. “Every opportunity we get to set up a booth and put our (fetal development) models up, we want to do that. Planned Parenthood and the other side, they're always out and always vocal. And we just want to make sure people know that we're still here and we're still fighting.”

Right to Life of Central Kentucky works to “increase public awareness through education and restore legal protection to those members of our human family who are threatened by abortion, infanticide, or euthanasia,” according to their website. The Walk for Life is one of two major yearly events for the nonprofit.

Before participants set off down Wellington Way in Lexington to stand up for the unborn, Bishop David Lamb [] presented a brief message comparing Cain’s murder of Abel in the Old Testament to the abortion industry. He said the blood of aborted babies cries out to God for justice.

“Stop the crying, not just of the living, but of the unborn,” Lamb added.

U.S. Congressman Andy Barr and David Walls, director of operations and policy for The Family Foundation, were also among the speakers.

“The Family Foundation for 30 plus years has been committed to fighting for the unborn here in the state of Kentucky,” said Walls. “And personally, this is an issue that is near and dear to my heart. We're at a moment, I believe, where we are seeing the end of Roe. The opportunity is there, and now is the time for us to stand bold for life in Kentucky and across the nation.”

Over the weekend, two other Walks for Life took place in Louisville and Owensboro.
