Changes at Food Lounge, 11th Hour
Andrea Mollenauer, who opened the Santa Cruz Food Lounge in 2015, has turned the reins over to Joel and Brayden Estby, who run 11th Hour Coffee at the same building (1001 Center St.). The Food Lounge has been a successful incubator for local food businesses. Mollenauer will continue her culinary career which includes teaching culinary skills to both high school and Cabrillo College students. “I really love the local food community and look forward to continuing to help it grow in other ways,” says Mollenauer. “Brayden and Joel are taking over a business with a strong foundation and will no doubt make it even more vibrant.”
The Estbys have been busy adding a cocktail bar (with some beer and wine) through the new “After hours” at 11th Hour (see @afterhourssc on Instagram). This will be “…an extension of what we are building with 11th Hour, bringing people together around art, craft cocktails, beauty, and expression,” says Joel. “We hope to exemplify how incredible our craft breweries, wineries and fresh local ingredients are.” Temporary hours are 4-9 p.m. Wednesday-Friday to accompany Full Steam Dumpling’s popups at the Lounge; after bar renovations are complete, hours will be expanded.
