Tennessee fans are a force to be reckoned with. Whether that’s on social media, in the stands at games, or, perhaps most importantly, when giving to charity.
On Tuesday night during Tennessee basketball’s win over Georgia, the Vol faithful discovered that UT freshman point guard Zakai Ziegler’s family home had tragically burned down. Zakai’s mother reportedly lost everything in the fire and the burden of the horrible event is especially heavy because she also cares for Zakai’s 4-year-old special needs nephew.
On Wednesday, the University collaborated with Zakai and created a GoFundMe campaign to help Zakai’s mother rebuild.
You can donate to the campaign by clicking here.
As you might expect, Tennessee fans answered the call. Despite the fact that the campaign was only attempting to raise $50,000, Vol fans donated a staggering $100,000 in only one hour.
Last week, a fire destroyed the New York home of Tennessee guard Zakai Zeigler.
His mother, who is raising his special-needs 4-year-old nephew, lost all of her belongings.
Vol Hoops launched a GoFundMe with a goal of $50,000.
Donors just doubled that goal in one hour. pic.twitter.com/W2tvRa5Csy

It’s an amazing feat but frankly, unsurprising from Big Orange fans.
According to the GoFundMe page, the fund is for “exclusively relief and recovery.” It also states that the “listed goal of $50,000 is an approximation, as the full scope of loss is difficult to quantify and still being assessed.”
Again, if you feel compelled to give, click here to be redirected to the GoFundMe campaign.
