Since committing to Oregon last October, Draper (Utah) Corner Canyon offensive center Jackson Light has been one of the more active Oregon prospects on social media in recent memory. The offensive line commit tweeted out a parody edit showing his commitment to the Ducks, imitated Oregon's strength coach, and now has gone viral for a 425-pound weight lift.
On Wednesday, the popular sports Instagram account Overtime posted a video of Light benching 425-pound with the Oregon fight song playing in the background. Since that video was posted, it has over 375,000 views and 90,000 likes.
Light has shown his savvy of social media, especially with the viral tweet with a unique top six list. While other uncommitted prospects have been posting their top schools on twitter, Light posted his top six schools consisting of the many Oregon logos that the Ducks have used over the past years. The tweet went viral with over 200 retweets and 2,500 likes.
For the prospect though, he's not just proving his skills on social media. Light has seen his ranking shoot up over the past few months. The prospect is having himself a strong offseason, seeing his ranking soar after strong performances at camps. Light was invited to the Under Armour All-America game after an MVP performance at a UA Camp stop in Phoenix.
In May, Light earned his fourth-star in the 247Sports composite rankings and continues to move up, now listed among the top 300 prospects in the 2021 class.
Light is projected as a future power five starter by 247Sports' recruiting analyst Blair Angulo with a comparison to Matt Paradis of the Carolina Panthers.
"Broad shouldered build with decent length and room to add mass. Forceful blocker with good mobility," said Angulo evaluating the Oregon commit. " Agile off his snap, showing ability to get vertical quickly and push opponents back to open up lanes. Balanced and aggressive lineman who can slide and pull, with footwork and awareness to support where needed. In pass block situations, does well to absorb contact with strong base and uses hands effectively to offset opponents' moves while staying cognizant of potential counters. At times squanders leverage and could improve his consistency in terms of pad level. Upside as a multi-year starter at Power Five level with chance to garner NFL Draft looks."
