A 29-year-old Boulder man was located late Monday night after 40 search and rescue crew members searched for him for 10 hours.
On Sunday evening, a Peaceful Valley Campground camp host reported a vehicle on the grounds that was not associated with a registered camper. A Boulder County Sheriff’s deputy checked the vehicle’s registration and learned the 29-year-old owner was reported missing out of Boulder, according to a release from the sheriff’s office.
Crews performed an initial search that night and returned Monday. They searched on foot and horseback, used search dogs, an unmanned aerial system and cellular forensics, the release said. Crews recovered some of the man’s personal belongings but did not find him.
About 10 p.m. the same night, deputies responded to a trespassing report at a private residence near Peaceful Valley. The trespasser was determined to be the missing man. He was transported to an area hospital for medical treatment for minor injuries and concern for his welfare.
Allenspark Fire Protection District, Boulder County Mounted Search and Rescue, Boulder Emergency Squad, Front Range Rescue Dogs, Rocky Mountain Rescue Group, Colorado Search and Rescue Association and Air Force Rescue Coordination Center assisted the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office in the search.
