One day after Riverside County moved from the purple tier to red tier under state rules for reopening during the coronavirus pandemic, 24 Hour Fitness clubs in five cities welcomed customers eager to work out Wednesday, Sept. 23.
“We had a line outside the door when we came in this morning,” District Manager Kevin Rogers said of the 24 Hour Fitness Riverside gym on Madison Street, next to the 91 Freeway. “They were ready to go.”

Rogers, who oversees 17 clubs in the Inland Empire and Las Vegas, said gyms also opened Wednesday in the Riverside County cities of Corona, Eastvale, Indio and Moreno Valley.
Because Riverside County is in the red tier, gyms and fitness centers now may open for indoor exercise at 10% of their buildings’ capacity.
San Bernardino County remains in the purple tier, which means gyms and fitness centers there may not operate indoors under the rules. However, that county could move into the red tier next week.
Jason Carter, regional vice president, said in a statement that 24 Hour Fitness now ha touch-free check-in through a smartphone app, is cleaning clubs repeatedly throughout the day and is promoting social distancing.
