During the Civil Air Patrol’s Hour of Honor in 2018, the tolling of the bell ceremony is performed to commemorate lives lost on 9/11.

In commemoration of the 412 emergency first responders who perished in the September 11 terror attacks, the Civil Air Patrol is hosting an “Hour of Honor,” which will feature a national anthem performance, tolling of the bell, comments from local leaders and a moment of silence.

The event will be held at Campbell County Fire Station #1 at noon on Friday, Sept. 11, marking 21 years since the attacks were made on the United States.

The Choral Trio from Thunder Basin High School will open the stage, performing The Star-Spangled Banner before Pastor Paul Baughman of New Life Church leads the group in prayer.

Speakers will include Major Toni Brown with Civil Air Patrol, Campbell County Sheriff Scott Matheny, EMS Director Chris Beltz and Campbell County Fire Chief Jeff Bender. Comments will be followed by an honorary bell tolling ceremony before the event is concluded with a moment of silence for the first responders who lost their lives on the morning of Sept. 11, 2001.

The event is free and open to all.
