Central Avenue South in Quincy has been closed for several hours this morning after a vehicle crashed into a light pole.
The highly traveled street has been blocked off between I and J Streets southwest since about 5:15 a.m. as city crews deal with the light pole dangling over the roadway.
Quincy police captain Ryan Green said an unlicensed 17-year-old male driver was distracted and crashed into the pole, knocking it off its base.
Green said the street is expected to reopen about 11 a.m.
The teen was not injured.
A detour route on side streets was set up.
