FREMONT — Police said they arrested two men over the weekend who were suspected of committing three robberies within an hour.

Around 8:45 p.m. on Aug. 21, Fremont police patrol officers responded to a report of a robbery at the 7-Eleven store at 35015 Fremont Blvd., at the intersection of Decoto Road.

According to a statement by the police department issued Tuesday, the clerk at the store told officers a man “produced a handgun and demanded he open the cash register.” The man fled with cash and other items from the store.

About 45 minutes later, roughly 10 miles away in the city’s Warm Springs district, police got a 911 call from someone at the Burger King located at 46700 Mission Blvd., reporting a robbery.

Police said an employee described a man who pointed a handgun at him and demanded money from the cash register. A witness gave officers a description of a car that fled the area at a high rate of speed, and Fremont police shared the car description to other law enforcement agencies nearby.

Around 9:37 p.m., police said a third robbery was reported at a Shell gas station at 42816 Mission Blvd. Officers who responded to the robbery report “quickly confirmed the suspect’s description, verifying it matched the robbery” from the 7-Eleven, police said.

By 9:45 p.m., police said officers located the car matching the description given to them near the intersection of Appian Way and Mission Boulevard, and Police said one of the suspects entered Bob’s Discount Liquors at 101 Appian way, while the second suspect remained with the car.

With the assistance of Union City police, officers set a perimeter around the business and were able to arrest the men, an 18-year-old and a 32-year-old, both of Hayward, on suspicion of felony robbery, and booked into Santa Rita Jail.

Alameda County records show both men were still in Santa Rita Jail as of Tuesday afternoon, each being held on $100,000 bail.
