NJ Transit rail service remains suspended, while buses are running with localized delays as they encounter roads closed by flooding and downed trees from the remnants of Tropical Storm Ida.
All rail service remains suspended, except for the Atlantic City Rail Line, which continues to operate. Rail service will remain suspended while crews assess damage to the rail system and necessary inspections are made. Flooding and down trees were among the issues that affected rail service.
Rail service was suspended late Wednesday due to storm related issues.
Storm related problems persisted on the rails Thursday, including flood gates that apparently closed on a Raritan Valley Line train near Bound Brook.
Buses will continue to operate, but passengers were warned to expect significant statewide delays, cancellations, and extensive detours due to severe flooding and multiple vehicles blocking streets and highways. Numerous sections of state highways remained closed Tuesday morning due to flooding or downed trees.
Newark Light Rail service is suspended due to flooding on city streets. Hudson-Bergen Light Rail operating on a modified schedule due to weather-related delays. Substitute bus service is being provided between Tonnelle Avenue and Hoboken, and between Newport and 2nd Street, Hoboken.
RiverLine light rail is operating with delays due to weather issues.
Systemwide cross honoring will be in effect for rail, NJ Transit and private carrier buses, and light rail. However officials cautioned that passengers should only travel if necessary and should check NJ Transit alerts and Twitter feed for their specific line or service.
PATH trains continue to operate on a modified schedule for the morning commute, after service was restored Wednesday night. Harrison station has been reopened.
Lakeland bus service remains suspended Thursday.
NJ Transit AccessLink service will start at 11 am in Region 5, serving Essex, Morris, Somerset and Union Counties and for Region 6 serving Bergen, Passaic, and Hudson Counties.
