CLEVELAND, Ohio – Police are investigating seven shootings that happened in a 15-hour span Friday and early Saturday, including a man shot at a gas station.
All of the victims so far survived, according to police. Police have not said if any arrests have been made in the shootings and few details were released as of early Saturday.
There were 2,263 shootings, including gunfire where no one is injured, in Cleveland as of Aug. 22, according to the most recent crime statistics released by the city. Shootings are up 11 percent from last year and 27 percent from 2019, according to the data.
The shootings happened from noon Friday through 3 a.m. Saturday. Seven happened on the city’s East Side and one on the West Side, according to police.
Friday
- 12:41 p.m.: A 30-year-old man was shot in the thigh on Scovill Avenue near East 55th Street. An ambulance took him to MetroHealth.
- 3:32 p.m.: A man, whose age was not known, was shot multiple times on East 65th Street, north of Quincy Avenue. An ambulance took him to MetroHealth.
- 5:43 p.m.: A 39-year-old woman was shot in the right leg on West 88th Street south of Dennison Avenue. Someone drove her to MetroHealth.
- 7:09 p.m.: A 27-year-old man was shot in the hand at the Sunoco gas station on Superior Avenue near East 49th Street. An ambulance took him to University Hospitals.
- 10:55 p.m.: A 20-year-old man was shot in the arm and leg. An ambulance took him to University Hospitals in serious condition.
- 11:54 p.m.: A 25-year-old man was shot twice in his leg on East 93rd Street, south of St. Clair Avenue. An ambulance took him to University Hospitals.
Saturday:
- 2:57 a.m. A 22-year-old woman was shot in the leg on Kinsman Avenue, although police did not say exactly where. She went to University Hospitals for treatment.
