Crenshaw County Deputies and other agencies spent four hours Saturday in a standoff in Glenwood that led to two arrests.

Sheriff Terry Mears said members of the sheriff department went to a home on Golden Road to serve a warrant.

When deputies arrived, a female staying at residence went in an shut the door, but eventually came out, the sheriff said.

Mears said the two hulled up in the home were Curtis Owens and Lamar Rhodes.

Mears said that Owens was hiding in a closet and Rhodes was in the attic.

Mears said he called for back-up from AST and Greenville SRT.

Owens was the first out of the home and then the SRT fired eight bottle of tear gas into the home and entered the home to arrest Rhodes.

Mears said that Owens is charged with fishing without a license and Rhodes had a probation revocation from a manslaughter charge.

Brantley Police also assisted.

Mears said an ambulance was staged and the Glenwood Fire Department also brought water to those who were working.

“It was well-coordinated,” he said.

Mears said more charges are possible stemming from this incident.
