Hour 10 and dramas galore with Scott Dixon leading the field into darkness after a great move to take the lead in the #01 Cadillac as the field went back to green after a Full Course Yellow.

That came for the recovery of the #8 Tower Motorsports Oreca after Timothe Buret had a huge accident on the exit of Turn One, the car impacting the tyre barrier and rolling, Timothe getting out under his own steam but the car out on the spot.

In effectively terminal trouble though was the #48 Ally Cadillac with race officials confirming that Simon Pagenaud has been adjudged to have exceeded the allowed maximum time in a 6 hour period. Jimmie Johnson confirmed the same on the NBC broadcast. The car will be classified last in DPi

With the #8 out of the race the #22 United Autosports car was elevated to third place just as the team were dealt a mighty stop and 3:36 hold after an improper wave-by procedure.

That though would not drop them further in the class order with the #8 and #18 both retired.

The class was still led by the #52 PR1 Mathiesen car with Scott Huffaker at the wheel with the #18 Era car (Ryan Dalziel) second.

GTLM saw another shake-up with the BMWs powering by the #79 Porsche that had led into the 9th hour after the strategic stumble for the #3 Corvette, the latest caution though has put the C8.R back into the fight, the top four separated by 10 seconds.

Phillip Eng leads in the #25 BMW

There was trouble for the previous dominant LMP3 leading #74 Ligier, the car behind the wall to fix non-functioning headlamps, much of the lost ground was recovered under the action to leave the #74 on the tail of the sister #91 at the top of the hour!

The #38 Performance Tech car meanwhile was confirmed as a retirement after accident damage, the team reportedly finding a dead squirrel in the car!

GTD is still fully alight too Zacharie Robichon in the #9 Pfaff 911 GT3 R holding off Trent Hindman in the #16 Wright Porsche until the #16 was forced to the pits, a drive-through for too many over the wall at a stop.

Second place was now the #12 Lexus, Frankie Montecalvo at the wheel with Pumpelly (#44 Acura), Gunn (23 Aston Martin) and Legge (#88 Porsche) all within 30 seconds too.

Bad news though for the #1 Paul Miller Racing Lamborghini – the car retired with a gearbox issue
