ELK RAPIDS, MI – A Northern Michigan brewery is launching “a feel-good program designed to give back.”
All summer long, Elk Rapids-based Short’s Brewing Co.’s “Share the Light” program will give $1 to charity for every proof-of-purchase of its flagship American lager, Local’s Light. Anyone who purchase Local’s Light can uploading their receipt to shortsbrewing.com/sharelocals. The company will then donate $1 to either the National Restaurant Association Restaurant Employee Relief Fund or Feeding America or For Love of Water (FLOW).
“We had plans for a Local's Light charitable program for a while, and COVID-19 really pushed it into action. I love this brand for so many reasons, but mostly for the fact that it invites everyone to be a part of the Short’s community,” said Pauline Knighton-Preuter, Short’s chief sales director.
The company is also honoring individuals who are making a positive impact in their community with its “Local’s Lights” program. Nominations are being taken through social media by tagging @shortsbrewing and using the hashtag #localslights. One winner will be selected each month and Short’s will donate $250 to a charity of their choice.
“From nurses to teachers, volunteers to activists—there are people in every field and walk of life making a positive impact,” Knighton-Preuter said. “Our Local's Lights program is our way of saying thanks and helping build communities everywhere.”
