When Corner Canyon High School (Utah) offensive lineman Jackson Light committed to the Oregon Ducks in October last year, he was viewed as a top-10 center nationally.

Since that time, however, the 6-foot-3, 285-pound Under Armour All-American selection has raised his profile and has entered the discussion as arguably the nation’s top center.

On Friday, Light got his first chance as a high school senior to show why - and he didn’t disappoint.

In Canyon Corner’s 49-20 victory over Farmington, Light exploded off the line and became a lead blocker along the sideline for a 52-yard gain, highlighting his raw power, athleticism and effort:

The future Ducks said he takes particular pride in hustle plays, because it sets the tone for his entire team.

“I love pulling around and blocking in space,” he said. “It’s very important to me, because that effort makes me the player I am. I give it a 100 percent... all the time. I feel like that type of effort is so important for our team’s success, and everyone on our team not only gives but expects that effort. Our culture as a team is based on it.”

Light already has a pair of future offensive line teammates in commits Bram Walden and Jonah Miller, but is working to build strong relationships with Adidas All-American Bowl offensive tackle Kingsley Suamataia and Rivals five-star offensive guard Bryce Foster.

“I love those dudes,” Light said. “They are great human beings. I’m working pretty hard on them and I love (Oregon’s) chances. With Kingsley, we have a great shot. He’s a baller and I would love to be his teammate. We both have started our seasons, so him and I talk occasionally. I would love to see him in green.”

Admittedly, Foster will be the tougher “get” for Mario Cristobal and his staff, but believes a second sport will help the Ducks.

“With Bryce, I’m talking with him quite a bit,” Light said. “I really think we have a good chance with him because of, not only football, but track facilities as well. He is also such a great player and I would be humbled to have him as a teammate. With them, Bram, Jonah and I, we will be the best O-line class in the nation.”

There’s still work to be done with Oregon’s 2021 recruiting class along the offensive line, but Light continues to show why the Ducks are set at center.
