An innocent bystander who was heading to New Jersey was struck in the leg by a stray bullet outside Penn Station during rush hour Monday night, police and sources said.

The 58-year-old victim was caught in the middle of a feud between two men outside the NJ Transit entrance at Seventh Avenue and West 31st Street in Manhattan at about 5:50 p.m., police said.

The suspected gunman had been arguing with another man, 56, inside Penn Station when he followed him outside and fired off at least one shot, striking the unintended target, police and sources said.

The victim was taken to Bellevue Hospital and is expected to survive, sources said.

The suspect was last seen fleeing southbound on Seventh Avenue, sources said.

The dispute that led to the gunfire erupted after the suspect may have asked the intended target for food as he was eating inside Penn Station, NYPD Police Commissioner Dermot Shea said at a press conference from the scene.

The alleged shooter “is kind of shunned away, and that kind of spills onto the street here,” Shea said.

The commissioner said it does not appear the suspect and his intended target know each other.
