The 9,641 acre Twentyfive Mile Fire has not moved in several days according to details released in the Sunday morning briefing from the Southwest area Incident Management Team 1.
Caleb Finch said light showers fell Saturday across the fire and the conditions moderated the fire behavior so firefighters were able to reduce the threat of the fire continuing to back down the slope towards the private property and homes along South Lakeshore Road. Equipment and crews continued to prepare lines to the south near Slide Ridge in anticipation for strategic backfiring operations when weather and and timing is right. Crews worked an overnight shift to protect properties and homes.
There are 463 personnel assigned to the fire that started last Sunday and is currently at 7% containment. The cause is underr investigation.
Today, Finch said warmer weather is expected to result in more fire activity and some growth in the fire, continuing this week as everything dries out following the rain. There is no rain in the forecast for the next week but firefighters will contend with South to Northwest/West winds gusting 20-30 mph today.
Air resources will continue throughout the day and improved weather conditions make the use of helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft more likely today. Officials stressed the importance that recreational boaters be aware of the aircraft using local lakes including Lake Chelan to fight the fire and to stay clear of the operations
Evacuation orders from Chelan County Emergency Management;
Level 3 (Go Now) evacuations for all properties north of Cove Marina on South Lakeshore Road, the area of Granite Falls Road and First Creek Road west of Lakeshore. Lakeshore Road is closed from Cove Marina north past the Twentyfive Mile drainage.
Level 2 (Get Set) from South from Cove Marina to Morning Sun Drive.
Level 1 (Get Ready) Lakeshore Road south of Granite Falls area.
