To the editor:

My wife and I had the pleasure of taking our grandson to the story hour and pumpkin painting at our Penn Hills Library Oct. 8 . We got there about 10 minutes early and weren’t surprised to be the only ones there. As time went on though, we were the only ones there. The teacher, Miss Tina, politely then re-introduced herself to our grandson since he‘d been there before. It was like they were old friends getting back together after a summer break. He enthusiastically followed her to the blanket, sat down and watched her every move as she got out their first book of the session. He followed every page and responded to every question or comment. Miss Tina covered several books on different subjects and had his attention and participation the entire time. The stories were followed by board exercizes and large ball and oversize frisbee tossing in the field behind the library. We were invited then to a grand session of pumpkin painting.

We are so glad to have Miss Tina in Penn Hills to interact with our children. She is kind and patient. She knows how to communicate with them and get enthusiastic responses. She is very well prepared and her lesson plan moves right along with stories, songs, dances and several activities. My wife and I look forward to every Friday, when we can attend the story hour at the Penn Hills Library, with our grandson.
